Itinerary

Day 1

This first battlefield day will cover the British Airborne operations to secure the eastern flank. This will include a visit to the iconic Pegasus Bridge and Merville Battery and their museums. The day will end with a visit to the Ranville Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery, where British, Commonwealth and Allied dead of this end of the battlefield are buried. We will drive the length of the British and Canadian beaches on the way to our hotel.

Day 2

Today will be spent at the Western end of the landing looking at the dropzones and battle area of the US 101 and 82 Airborne Divisions. Including Brecourt Manor, the La Fiere bridgehead and Chef du Pont, this day will give you a great insight into the US Airborne contribution to D Day. A Congressional Medal of Honour action at La Fiere and the actions of Brigadier General Gavin are included. The visit to St Mere Eglise will include a visit to the church and Airborne museum with time for lunch and souvenir shopping.

Day 3

A day will be spent on Utah Beach looking at the US 4th “Ivy” Division landings and link-up actions with the US Airborne divisions. This is the beach on which Brigadier General Roosevelt earned his Congressional Medal of Honour. Including visits to the German batteries at Crisbecq and Azeville and the Utah Beach museum.

Day 4

The Rangers at Pointe du Hoc and the VII Corps landing on Omaha Beach are epic stories of valour and determination in the face of adversity. Visit the cliffs at the Pointe du Hoc and reflect on the skill and valor of 2nd Rangers. Enjoy a long beach walk of the golden sands and bluffs of Omaha Beach to get a real sense of the courage and determination of the US 1st and 29th Infantry Divisions assault. Included is the area of the Lt Monteith Congressional Medal of Honour action. Also included is a visit to the newly refurbished Overlord Museum.

Day 5

The last stop on this tour is a visit to the US Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. A chance to pay our respects to the American servicemen who laid their lives in the Normandy campaign. Return to Paris
