Itinerary
Day 1
Thursday, 19 September 2024
Morning departure from London for your ferry crossing to Calais and onto Arnhem. Follow part of Club Route as it crosses ‘Joe’s Bridge’ on its way to linking up with the US 101 Airborne Division, a route soon to earn the nickname of "Hell’s Highway”. Dinner and overnight
Day 2
Friday, 20 September 2024
Breakfast. We will consider the operations of 1st (British) Airborne Division at Arnhem. From the drop zones to the infamous “bridge too far” to the “witches’ cauldron” of Oosterbeek, we will look at the key events of the battle as they unfolded through to the evacuation of the survivors at the end of the operation. Tafelberg, the Old Church and the Lonsdale Force area. Attend a memorial and wreath-laying ceremony at Arnhem Airborne Monument at the John Frost Bridge, before a special celebration hosted by dignitaries where we will be entertained by a local band. Dinner and overnight
Day 3
Saturday, 21 September 2024
Breakfast. Watch a parachute drop at Ginkel Heath (weather permitting). Particpate in wreath-laying ceremony at Ginkel Heath. Visit the Airborne cemetery with option to visit Airborne Museum ‘Hartenstein’. the Dinner and overnight
Day 4
Sunday, 22 September 2024
Breakfast. Finish the tour with a memorial service at the Airborne Cemetery before returning to Calais.
