The inimitable English summer - a destination in its own right

The inimitable English summer - a destination in its own right

England in the summer has been inspiring poets, writers and artists for centuries. If your group only had 2 weeks to enjoy the best of it, this is what we think you’re going to want to tick off.

  • A London tour on an open-top bus or Thames River cruise.
  • Punting, a leisurely way to see unique scenery. Try punting on the River Cam in Cambridge, along the famous ‘College Backs’ for views of King's and Trinity Colleges or on the River Thames in Oxford.
  • RHS Chelsea Flower Show for glorious flower displays and award-winning gardens. A highlight in both the floral and social calendar!
  • Tickets to Wimbledon, with non-negotiable strawberries and cream.
  • A picnic...by a river, in a meadow or on a London park bench. Anywhere, the only criteria is outside.
  • A traditional coastal resort for fish and chips, miles of sandy beaches, rock pooling, quirky souvenir shops and quaint tearooms. Think the South-West for the Jurassic Coast, Cornwall’s picture-perfect beaches and fishing villages and the sheltered bays, palm‑lined promenades, and warm microclimate of the English Riviera in Devon.
  • A cricket match on a village green. Enjoy a traditional cricket tea while you watch the action, complete with finger sandwiches, scones and Pimm’s!
  • Croquet, fashionable pastime for the middle and upper classes in Victorian and Edwardian times and enjoying a modern revival.
  • Tickets to an open-air theatre or concert.
  • A vineyard tasting and tour - sample vintage sparkling wine and tour the vines at a vineyard in the sunny Kent, Sussex or Surrey countryside.
  • A garden visit, maybe RHS Wisley or Kew. Or Highgrove, country home of King Charles.
  • Pick your own summer fruit at a traditional pick-your-own fruit farm. The fruit choice is plentiful and includes strawberries, raspberries, cherries, redcurrants and plums.
  • World-famous London Zoo to see lions, tigers and bears...and gorillas, giraffes and penguins.
  • A day at a castle or stately home. Choose from Windsor Castle, Leeds Castle, Blenheim Palace and Chatsworth, among others.
  • A trip on a heritage railway. Travel along vintage rail tracks, in Agatha Christie era steam engines, through ancient countryside, forgotten railway stations and tucked-away villages.
  • Cheer on the knights at a Tudor jousting tournament. Castles including Leeds Castle, Hever Castle and Hampton Court Palace host typical jousting events.
  • Kayaking or paddle boarding.
  • Have fun at a fayre or browse the stalls at a craft show.
  • Lunch in a typical country pub. Menu choices include traditional ploughman’s, delicious roasts and local delicacies.

It would be a first-class itinerary which could cram all that in - but we're always up for a challenge! Contact us today for your glorious summertime tour!
