All Creatures Great and Small Group Tour

This hit drama series based on James Herriot's famous books follows the adventures of a village veterinarian practice in Yorkshire in the 1930s. Visit the breathtaking country locations and charming village where the series was filmed.

Tour Highlights

  • Visit Grassington, used as the village of 'Darrowby' in the series, where James Herriot starts his new life - many local shops were transformed for the series. The local bakery and chocolatier became 'Darrowby Cycles', the gift shop transformed into 'Higgins Bakers' and the local bookshop stood in for the greengrocers.
  • Enjoy some refreshments in the coffee shop that was used by the cast and crew on their breaks.
  • Photo opportunities outside the pub used for exterior shots of 'The Drover's Arms'.
  • Jump off the coach and have a photo stop at Malham Lings (National Trust), the spot where James Herriot prematurely gets off the bus for his trip to Darrowby. See rolling countryside in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
  • Birstwith Hall, a charming and varied four acre garden, which is used for Colonel Merrick’s home.
  • Studley Deer Park (National Trust), the location for a traditional summer cricket match in Series 2.
  • Include a visit to the World of James Herriot Museum; the fully restored site of James Herriot's original home and veterinary practice (known in the books as Skeldale House) - the original TV series was also filmed here.
  • Enjoy lunch in the pub used for interior scenes at 'The Drover's Arms'.
  • Bradford Industrial Museum, which appears in episode 1. Set in an old spinning mill, visitors explore the industrial and social heritage of West Yorkshire at a time that immediately preceded the 1930s era in which James Herriot set his classic books.
  • Enjoy a trip along the heritage railway line which appeared in the series, which includes Oakworth train station.
  • Bolton Abbey and a bridge used in a famous scene.
  • Visit beautiful Janet's Foss (National Trust) - a small waterfall pool used in scenes when James is swimming.
  • The farm which appears as Helen's family farm.

What Our Clients Say

I was very fortunate to be on their 70th and 75th D-Day celebration tours. The service and attention to details was exceptional. It was very moving to go back.

As a Jane Austen enthusiast, this tour was perfect - and the Jane Austen Festival in Bath was just fabulous to see!

Words fail me...The Downton Abbey was a perfectly wonderful travel experience! We did not know we would be the ONLY guests at the Abbey. When we realised how truly exclusive our tour was we were speechless! Surreal being there and actually meeting Lady Carnarvon.
