Step into the footsteps of the Bridgertons, Crawleys and Windsors as you join us on this film locations tour, covering sites featured in headline-grabbing period dramas Bridgerton, Downton Abbey and The Crown. Visit the magnificent locations used to represent Royal, Georgian and 1930's England and immerse yourself in luxurious high-society. Ancient cathedrals, splendid stately homes and other historic buildings all helped to set the scene in these award-winning television series.
Depart London and transfer to Winchester – visit the cathedral, which in The Crown, was the setting for the funerals of Sir Winston Churchill in Series 3 and Lord Mountbatten in Series 4 as well as the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Free time for lunch. Afternoon continue to Bath, the Georgian city which epitomises Regency England. Although Bridgerton is set in London the majority of outdoors/town scenes were filmed in Bath. Visit the location used for Lady Danbury's house – tour the grounds which include Sydney Gardens where Jane Austen used to visit, and view items such as China tea sets from the Regency period, finishing with a cream tea. Check into hotel for overnight.
Walking tour of Bath - where you will see the local cafe that was used for the Modiste Dress Shop, and wander along the famous Royal Crescent. Depart. Box lunch. Visit the stunning Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey). Visit of the house, to include the living areas, library and bedrooms which were all used in the series and film. Free time in the gardens and gift shop. Transfer to London and check into hotel for overnight.
Panoramic tour the city which will highlight locations used in filming for Downton Abbey and The Crown including; 35 Belgravia Square (exterior of Lady Rosamund’s residence – Downton Abbey), Buckingham Palace and the Mall (Downton Abbey / The Crown), and other important Royal sites such as Horseguards Parade, Westminster Abbey, and St James. Visit Southwark Cathedral, used for the funeral scene of King George in The Crown. Lunch. Afternoon visit to Greenwich – pass by the location used for the exterior shots of the Bridgerton’s family home (Bridgerton). Visit to the Old Royal Naval College, an impressive and historic building with landscaped grounds, which was used both as the Buckingham Palace courtyard in The Crown, and in Bridgerton where Lady Whistledown's papers are distributed, and also the location for Anthony's carriage ride and the market scene in Series 2. Return to city centre.
