All Creatures Great and Small Tour
This new adaptation preserves the rich spirit of James Herriot’s iconic characters and stories. Take a tour around the stunning countryside and spot locations from the series as you stroll through the traditional village.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Visit Grassington, used as the village of 'Darrowby' in the series, where James Herriot starts his new life - many local shops were transformed for the series; the local bakery and chocolatier became 'Darrowby Cycles', the girft shop transformed into 'Higgins Bakers', the local bookshop stood in for the greengrocers
- Enjoy some refreshments in the coffee shop that was used by the cast and crew on their breaks.
- Photo opportunities outside the pub which was used for exterior shots of 'The Drover's Arms'
- Visit the historic Broughton Hall, which was used in several scenes for Mrs Pumphrey's House.
- Jump off the coach and have a photo stop at Malham Lings, the spot where James Herriot prematurely gets off the bus for his trip to Darrowby - rolling countryside and in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
- Include a visit to the James Herriot museum; the fully restored site of James Herriot's original home and veterinary practise (known in the books as Skeldale House) - the original TV series was also filmed here.
- Enjoy lunch in the same pub used for interior scenes at 'The Drover's Arms'
- Enjoy a trip along the heritage railway line, including Oakworth train station, which appeared in the series
- Visit the beautiful Janet's Foss - a small waterfall pool which was used for the scenes when James is swimming
